ENJOY HEALTH THIS MONSOON
The office going community carry food from home. and refrain from eating chaats, fast foods, sandwiches, fruit juices or any such food from roadside or from shops where hygiene is questionable. Because such food stalls are the biggest sources of infections and diseases due to their unhygienic practices of food preparation.
Few important tips to keep you and your stomach healthy this monsoon are :-
- Avoid eating raw foods during this monsoon like salads.
- Wash all fruits and vegetables thoroughly, specially leafy like cauliflower, which not only contain larvae and worms but also collect dirt from the streets.
- Eat in moderate quantities as the body finds harder to digest during the monsoon.
- Drink warm beverages with add mint or ginger tea.
- Take naturally sour food (not fermented) like tomato, lime, buttermilk chanch and kokum juice in your diet
- Moong dal is easy to digest, especially watery dal
- Garlic, pepper, ginger, sonth, turmeric, coriander and jeera enhance your body’s digestive power apart from improving immunity .
- Recommended during the rains: bhindi, dudhi, parwal, , baingan and karela.
- Recommended fruits are Pomegranates, chikoos, bananas, Mangoes, aadoo and strawberries are ideal for the monsoon.
- Eat four to five dates every day for your iron and energy requirements.
- Non-vegetarians should avoid heavy curries
- Drink only boiled and filtered water
- Well cooked sprouts, pulses, dals etc are also good for lunch
- Avoid raw seafood, shellfish or any kind of raw meat preparations.
If you have no option but to eat out then choose steamed foods like idlis, steamed rice and dal with vegetables
