yes ! you heard it right wheat flour(refined) which you eat every day is not healthy.Wheat flour which is ingrained into our diets is especially BAD FOR DIABETIC PATIENTS.

   this is because of the high gluten content in wheat flour especially the ones dished out now days.
                   The problem with the wheat flour made today is that after the wheat is converted to wheat flour , it undergoes another process where the nutritious skin of wheat is removed as it can not be beaten into a powdered form and also, does not add to the cosmetic value of wheat flour.Also, as the skin makes it more difficult to pack wheat flour into bags.So, its removed so the flour looks good while selling. 
           It is quite ironic that with advancement in technology, we are cutting down our own health.  So, whole wheat is not bad as such ,but wheat flour made now days is bad for your health.
